Woodside Junior School Equality Objectives 2018-2019

Woodside Junior School is committed to ensuring equality of provision throughout the school community.The following objectives are designed to ensure that the school meets the needs of everyone. We aim to eliminate discrimination, taking account of all minorities,gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, language, disability, ability, sexual orientation, age and social circumstances. We strive to include and engage all pupils to prepare them for full participation in our diverse society. 

Our equality objectives are as follows:

  • To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences - both in and beyond the school
  • To tackle prejudice and promote understanding in relation to people with disabilities
  • To ensure that all pupils are given similar opportunities with regards to after school clubs and activities
  • To allow equal access to information for all parents
  • To ensure the school environment is accessible as possible to all pupils, staff and visitors
  • Promote equal opportunity and access
  • Promote and celebrate diversity, regardless of race, gender, ethnic origin, religious belief or disability
  • Treat all people equally and operate a zero tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination
  • Oppose all forms of prejudice for example: sexism, homophobia
  • Give every child the best opportunity to learn and achieve high standards and to take part in all school activities
  • Promote community cohesion within the school, local community, country and worldwide

To achieve this we will:

  • Ensure that the curriculum is broad and balanced and make the best of every opportunity to provide equality an promote diversity
  • Track pupil groups and individual, analysing information and putting provision into place should it be needed
  • Provide appropriate resources as required
