History in Woodside is tailored around opportunities to explore British values, the local area as well as interesting topics around the globe. The local area enables us to enhance children’s both geographical and historical knowledge, trips including the tube as a method of travel to London which enables us access to free resources such as the British Museum.

The children develop a thorough knowledge about the past, based upon an understanding of historical events. At Woodside School we assess the children through the key skills on a termly basis. These skills enable teachers to record children’s individual progress, and areas for further development. Each term the children complete a KWL grid (what they already know, what they would live to know about the topic and at the end of each lesson they add what have they learned).
